A CheckButton
places a label next to an indicator.
A CheckButton
is created by calling either new()
or with_label()
.
The state of a CheckButton
can be set specifically using
CheckButtonExt::set_active()
, and retrieved using
CheckButtonExt::is_active()
.
§Inconsistent state
In addition to “on” and “off”, check buttons can be an “in between” state that is neither on nor off. This can be used e.g. when the user has selected a range of elements (such as some text or spreadsheet cells) that are affected by a check button, and the current values in that range are inconsistent.
To set a CheckButton
to inconsistent state, use
CheckButtonExt::set_inconsistent()
.
§Grouping
Check buttons can be grouped together, to form mutually exclusive groups - only one of the buttons can be toggled at a time, and toggling another one will switch the currently toggled one off.
Grouped check buttons use a different indicator, and are commonly referred to as radio buttons.
To add a CheckButton
to a group, use CheckButtonExt::set_group()
.
When the code must keep track of the state of a group of radio buttons, it
is recommended to keep track of such state through a stateful
GAction
with a target for each button. Using the toggled
signals to keep
track of the group changes and state is discouraged.

CheckButton
supports the following keyboard shortcuts:

has a main node with name checkbutton. If the

properties are set, it contains a child widget. The indicator node
is named check when no group is set, and radio if the checkbutton

The default bindings for this signal are Tab to move forward, and Shift+Tab to move backward.

Emitted when the widget’s tooltip is about to be shown.
This happens when the has-tooltip

is true
and the hover timeout has expired with the cursor hovering
“above” @widget; or emitted when @widget got focus in keyboard mode.
Using the given coordinates, the signal handler should determine
whether a tooltip should be shown for @widget. If this is the case
true
should be returned, false
otherwise. Note that if
@keyboard_mode is true
, the values of @x and @y are undefined and
should not be used.
The signal handler is free to manipulate @tooltip with the therefore destined function calls.

Emitted when @widget is associated with a gdk::Surface
.
This means that WidgetExt::realize()
has been called
or the widget has been mapped (that is, it is going to be drawn).

Emitted when @widget is shown.

Emitted when the widget state changes.
§unmap
Emitted when @widget is going to be unmapped.
A widget is unmapped when either it or any of its parents up to the toplevel widget have been set as hidden.
As ::unmap indicates that a widget will not be shown any longer, it can be used to, for example, stop an animation on the widget.
